Approximately 90 percent of the public relations professionals earn around $13.50 an hour. That makes it $28,100 annual compensation. On an average, they can earn up to $22.76 an hour which makes it $47,400 per year. The ones at the top of the scale earn $42.89 on an hourly basis, and their annual income is, therefore, $89,200. A public relations director can get an average salary of $128,000.

Those just starting out with around two years of experience can get from $38,000 to $50,000. They will work under the supervision of a senior PR specialist or manager. After working for 2-4 years, you would have gained sufficient expertise in the field. So, you can expect a hike in the salary, anywhere between $47,000 and $62,000. After working for 4 to 6 years in the industry, you are entitled to $56,000 to $76,000. Those with 6 to 8 years of experience can rake in $69,000 to $94,000. By this time, you would be directly working under the head of the department, and so you would be reporting directly to him or her. By this time, one will expect you to be aware of all there is to know about the business.
